Welcome to New Peaks Neuropsychology!

We are a group practice dedicated to providing neuropsychologically based services to children, adolescents, and young to middle-aged adults. Our providers take pride in offering empirically-driven evaluations and evidence-based interventions with clinical sensitivity. Our approach to working with patients strives to be scientific yet warm and supportive.  We also maintain highly collaborative relationships with colleagues in the community.

The team at New Peaks takes a “whole-person” approach and recognizes that it “takes a village to raise a child”. We feel fortunate to work in a community with so many skilled colleagues and resources to recommend.  We also understand that seeking medical or psychological care can be stressful, confusing, or overwhelming.  So, we consider it part of our job to help patients navigate the growing array of options available to them.

Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluations explore the brain functions underlying an individual’s learning, cognition, behavior, and social-emotional development.  Evaluations explore general cognitive ability (IQ), language, nonverbal and visual-spatial skills, attention, executive functions (e.g., planning, organization, working memory, impulse control, etc.), learning and memory, motor skills, social cognition, and communication, and/or emotional adjustment. Academic achievement can also be assessed, including many aspects of reading, writing, and mathematics.

At New Peaks Neuropsychology evaluations are done through standardized, performance-based testing of skills, such as attention, language, and memory. Information gathered in an evaluation produces a profile that is interpreted by the doctor to identify strengths and areas in need of growth or support. Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations are typically completed over several appointments and will be discussed at the time of scheduling. The typical series of appointments is as follows:

  • Intake: Your provider reviews records, consults with associated professionals (e.g., teachers, health care providers, interventionists, etc.), and performs clinical interviews. Completion of rating forms by the patient, family, and teacher.

  • Testing: Pencil-and-paper activities, oral questions, hands-on puzzles, and computer-based measures across a wide range of skills.

  • Feedback: Your provider will review test results, interpretations, conclusions (including diagnoses), and recommendations with you verbally before finalizing your report. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and play an active role in developing a treatment plan.

  • Report: Your provider generates a detailed report, including a thorough review of the patient’s history, explanation of test results, diagnoses when appropriate, treatment plans, and recommendations for resources and interventions.

We are also available to discuss findings with care providers, including participation in school meetings, as desired.

Neuropsychological evaluations are conducted to evaluate for conditions including:
